Preview: Olympic BMX (Cycling)

07th August 2012
Seeding runs (time trials) take place on the 8th, with quarterfinals for men on the 9th and the semis and finals for both men and women on the 10th.

Britain has high hopes in both events, with Shanaze Reade and Liam Phillips. Reade is capable of a gold if she can stay upright, Phillips is also a medal contender if he has fully recovered from a broken collarbone earlier in the year. Also look out for Caroline Buchanan (AUS) and Magalie Pottier (FRA) in the women's event and Sam Willoughby (AUS) in the men’s.

Update - Men's Quarterfinals - 9/8/12
Raymon van der Biezen (Netherlands), Connor Fields (United States of America), Liam Phillips (Great Britain) and Marc Willers (New Zealand) all looked good and qualified for the semis with low points scores.

Shanaze Reade needs to put the Beijing Demons to rest, only a medal can do that – ideally gold. Cycling has won the most Gold’s for Team GB, down to the BMX and Mountain Bike riders (11 & 12 Aug) to put the sport into double figures for gold’s.
