Mark Buckingham & Darran Bilton/Barnsley 10K (15/11/09)
Salford Harrier’s Ben Riddle and Tessa Walker had a successful trip to the Cop Hill fell race (incorporating the YVAA fell championships) promoted by Meltham A.C.
Mark Buckingham (Holmfirth), better know for his cycling results this year, showed a return to form after a year blighted by injury by winning the Barnsley 10K from Darran Bilton (Leeds City) and Steve Bateson (East Hull). Bridget Coomber was the ladies winner.
Race three in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League took place at a rather gloomy Thornes Park, Wakefield. Andrew Pearson (Longwood) battled with Jonathan Brownlee (Bingley) all race long before out sprinting him in the finishing straight to make it three wins in three races in the league. In the women’s race Lizzie Adams (York Knavesmire) beat Julie Briscoe (Wakefield) and Sarah Jarvis (Bingley).
