Colne Valley Mountain Challenge (10/05/09)


Stuart Edmondson (Horwich) won Saddleworth Runners annual Ravenstones Fell Race with Barbara Hinchcliffe winning the Women’s race.

Over 350 mountain bikers lined up for the Colne Valley Mountain Bike Challenge. The 30-mile route is a mixture of demanding off road terrain, local roads and lanes, set around the picturesque countryside of the Colne Valley in Huddersfield.

May also saw the start of the White Rose Youth League. The league for children under 16's sees them race alternate weeks on closed circuits at Richard Dunn Centre and Wombwell Go Kart track.

Tom Brunt (Holmfirth) piped Rob Little in the Crowden Horseshoe Fell race.

Tom Barras (Plowman Craven) beat evergreen John Tanner to the Yorkshire Road Race Championship title with local lad Tom Murray taking third.
