Meltham 10K

29th January 2012
Over 300 runners gathered on Sunday morning for the annual Meltham 10K race. Well known as a tough course, with a couple of steep climb to get the blood pumping on a cold morning.

Holmfirth duo David Watson and Paul Smith soon moved clear of the field, with Watson going it alone on the first climb after 1KM. Running alone he soon pulled out an unassailable lead, Smith held on to second despite a spirited run over the closing downhill section by Stuart McClay (Veterans AC) who took third. With James Durrans in 7th, Holmfirth took the team prize.

In the Ladies race Amy Green (Keighley & Craven) and Kath Farquhar (Holmfirth) were side by side on the first climb, but in the end it was Green who took the honours by a handful of seconds. Holmfirth also took the Ladies team prize to round out a successful race for the club.
